Scotscraig is historic Scottish links, just 20 minutes from the home of golf. Laid out by Davie Robertson in 1817, the first two holes remain exactly as they were two centuries ago, and that’s only the beginning of this beautiful but brutal course. Our signature 4th hole, Westward Ho, was designed by James Braid over 100 years ago, with its green perched high above the fairway, and has since served as the inspiration for one of the defining templates of America’s Golden Age of golf course design: the “Knoll”, which today features at many of America’s most revered courses.
This captivating blend of links and heathland plays firm and fast when conditions allow, and is comparable with any great Scottish links course. Just 20 minutes from St Andrews, Scotscraig is the natural inclusion for any visitor making a trip to the home of golf.

Make the most of your visit to Scotscraig
Trolley hire £8
Electric trolley hire £20 (pre-booking advised)
TaylorMade Golf Club hire £50 (women’s and men’s left and right handed sets available, pre-booking is advised. Includes a sleeve of golf balls.)
Buggies
Scotscraig is a walking course, but a buggy can be hired for £45 if you have a medical certificate or blue badge. Our buggies are self-drive and don’t require a Caddie. Buggies are on a first come first served basis, and while we’ll try to carry the booking over if your tee time changes, this can’t be guaranteed. Buggy hire is subject to ground conditions.

CADDIE SERVICES
Experience Scotscraig as it was intended
Scotscraig holds more than 200 years of golfing history, and you can make the most of it with the knowledge and companionship of a traditional caddie. Drawing on a deep understanding of the course, our local, experienced caddies will quietly guide your game and help you appreciate the subtle character of each hole. Discover the course, embrace its character, enjoy all of the local stories, and appreciate Scotscraig at its finest.

Fees
£70.00 payment should be made directly to the caddie upon completion of your round in UK pounds sterling.
Need to Know
It is strongly recommended that caddies are booked no later than 24 hours in advance. Every endeavour will be made to provide caddies that are requested on the date of play, but we ask that 24 hours’ notice to be given to avoid disappointment.
Our caddies are self-employed, independent contractors. Therefore, there is a natural variability in caddie availability. Our policy is to facilitate one caddie per player. Caddies will caddie one bag and provide services to one player only. During periods of extreme high demand for caddies, a forecaddie service may be offered at the discretion of the Pro Shop.

Clubhouse
When you visit Scotscraig, you are a member for the day – genuinely. Please enjoy the clubhouse as your own, and we’ll make you welcome each and every time you visit.
Before your round
Use the warm up area/putting green before you step up to the first tee.
Facilities
Please feel free to use our locker rooms, toilets, and showers.
Dress Code
We want everyone to look the part at Scotscraig, so please wear a collared golf shirt or proper golf apparel, and leave everyday t-shirts, football shirts, and tops with big slogans, numbers, or graphic illustrations at home. Soft spikes are completely fine inside the clubhouse, and any standard golf hats or visors are good to go.
Handicap
While a formal handicap is not required, players are expected to be familiar with basic golf etiquette and maintain a good pace of play.
Where we are
Scotscraig is perfectly situated for many golfing itineraries. It’s just 20 minutes north of St Andrews, 10 minutes from Dundee, 30 minutes from Carnoustie, and within a 90 minute drive from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen airports.
Groups
If you’re in a group of less than four, we may pair you up with other golfers.
Parking
Free parking is available in the car park in front of the clubhouse, with overflow parking at the back.
Dogs
At Scotscraig, dogs are welcome on the golf course as long as they are under your control and not causing any disturbance.

This championship course is a fair but demanding test, requiring precision and thoughtful strategy. A six-time Open Qualifying venue and recent Scottish PGA host, Scotscraig is 20 minutes from St Andrews, 30 minutes from Carnoustie, and within a 90 minute drive from all major Scottish airports.
Clubhouse
Start your day with a bacon roll and coffee on the terrace, enjoy lunch and drinks in the Clubhouse or on the terrace, or even opt for a private dining experience in the Playfair Trophy Room, showcasing the 200 year-old Gold Medal and more than two centuries of Scottish golfing memorabilia.
